Our 6 week experiment with accelerated math has ended and about 75% of the 7th graders and 50% of the 8th graders showed great improvements as a result of the change. The groups in each grade that declined in acheivement have been moved back to a more traditional setting. Homework will be listed in the blog weekly for these students. Mr. D is in charge of the more structured class so please contact him with any questions.

Ms. DePuy and Mr. D. have decided to switch formats in math. In order to better target areas of poor performance, we have divided the classes differently. We divided them based on each students greatest area of need from the following 4 areas:

Numbers and Operations

Geometry and Measurement

Algebra

Probability and Data

Each of these groups will be working on a specific skill set, designed to fill in the gaps in their math learning. They will have homework just like before. Parents should check their student's math folder, which will contain all of the work they do over the next 6 weeks.
